Good morning. Tomorrow marks the 51st anniversary of how the world got a little smaller when the Magic Kingdom first opened at Disney World, Florida. While we hope our Florida readers are safe and sheltered from hurricane Ian, here are three interesting stats to tide you over:
Admission in 1971 was $3.50 for adults and $1 for children. It's $109 now.
The FAA has designated Disney World a “no-fly zone,” a level of security typically afforded to places like the White House and NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
You cannot buy chewing gum at any of the Disney parks or resorts.

In the food world
🍺 BYOB
NFL fans will notice something different with their Thursday Night Football experience on Amazon… They won't be seeing any beer (or any alcohol) commercials as the company doesn't allow them. By comparison, beer brands have spent over $40 million on commercials during other televised NFL games so far this season. We have a great Amazon joke… Prime members will receive it tomorrow.

President Biden unveiled a series of proposals to reduce obesity, expand nutritional assistance and end hunger by 2030. The plan calls for more free school meals, new labels on food and would have the government offer medically tailored meals for those on Medicare. So far $8 billion has been committed to this plan from participants such as Google, Warner Bros., Discovery, Doordash and Chobani.
🎃 True love
Not every kiss begins with Kay… For UK residents, the new mantra is “every kiss begins with a PSL”. Jeweler Angelic Diamonds has created the world's first PSL-inspired engagement ring to spice up your proposal. According to them, every detail of the ring is inspired by the drink. Priced at almost the same price as the beverage (£10,000/$10,800), this ring comes with a “Pumpkin Spice” engraving as a kicker.
Beyond rescue?
Beyond Meat has a lot more problems than its COO allegedly chomping on noses. The once-booming company has gone into reverse, with sales declining 10.5% in 2022. Their market cap ($14 billion in 2019) has now has fallen to just under $920 million.
With numbers crumbling as easily as a Beyond burger, it is difficult to pinpoint just one reason. Here we take a look at what caused this decline… Least of all being Kim Kardashian — their Chief Taste Consultant.
Glory days
In 2019 Beyond Meat went public amid a massive PR blitz. Claims about their sustainability, health and climate benefits were all over. The cash floodgates opened and their products appeared everywhere — restaurants, grocery stores, “woke” protests and social media feeds.
Steep decline
Fast forward to today and we realize investors, cheerleaders or financial analysts apparently missed out on asking something that anyone who shares a pizza asks when the last slice is remaining… Who’s going to eat this?
If you guessed vegetarians, then that’s incorrect. The percentage of vegetarians in the US is probably the only thing lesser than the current 30 year mortgage rates —only 5%! And buying something that tastes like charred cow flesh isn’t really their jam.
To make matters worse, the addressable market may be more limited than previously thought, with a growing resistance to its “woke” status — even among those seeking to reduce their red meat consumption.
Finally, the topic of high interest rates is incomplete without its uninvited plus one — inflation. As things get costlier, people who were initially inclined to eat faux meats are now reluctant to pay premium prices for it, reverting to the real thing instead.
Going forward
Critics speculate that even the current market cap is high. Beyond Meat’s ride is going to be as wonky as walking on land after spending a week on a cruise ship. Unless the average omnivorous person adopts their products, the question of Beyond Meat (or any faux meat company) being just a fad or the long-lasting future-Big-Macs, will always remain.
Almond biscotti

Everyone would agree that mornings without coffee are a struggle! What started off as just a wake up button for me, eventually became an experience. And what better way to accompany coffee, than with the marvelously simple biscotti.
These biscottis are made with a bit of flair. They are accompanied with a trio of chocolate, strawberry and coffee ice creams, strawberry and chocolate whipped cream, strawberry coulis and some coffee caviar because.. why not! Think of it as the new way of having biscotti, coffee and fruits!

Cooking tips
An egg white is easiest to beat at room temperature. Take them out of the refrigerator 30 mins prior to give them a fair warning of the upcoming beating.
If the salt bae in you takes over causing the stew to be too salty, then add raw cut potatoes. Discard them after they are cooked – they would have absorbed the salt.
Perforated bags may not be the best for birth control but are great for preserving green fruits. The perforation allows for better air circulation and ethylene gas (produced during ripening) retention.
Did you know?
Pigs eat world’s most expensive food — at more than a $1000 per pound… black truffles.
You cannot taste food unless it’s mixed with saliva. So the next time someone complains about your food, remember… its not you, their saliva has no taste!
Ironically enough, Eskimos use refrigerators to keep food warm. Due to the extreme cold in their igloos, food can develop freezer burn if left unrefrigerated.
