Good morning. We know the feeling all too well - snoozing through the alarm, scrambling to butter a slice of toast, only for it to fall and land buttered side down of the floor. Even the 5 second rule can’t salvage this situation.
And while being stuck in that incredibly slow line at the airport security check is bad luck, this isn’t. The height from which the toast is dropped plays an important role. Considering the average human height, the toast only has time to execute a half-rotation before it lands, causing the buttered side to be on the floor. Increasing the height to 8 feet (stilts, heels, whatever you can think of) will give it time for a full rotation and your problem will be solved!
In the food world

US Military - The largest food influencer in the world!
Prior to social media influencers, the US Military has been influencing our diet in more ways than we can imagine. It is one of the largest food buyer and innovator in the industry. As we head into the Memorial Day Weekend, instead of our recipe of the week, we wanted to highlight the top 5 inventions from the US military that have revolutionized food habits all over.
Supermarket Bread: Ever wondered why your homemade sourdough magically turns into a rock by day 3 but the supermarket bread doesn’t? The difference is starch-snacking bacterial enzymes, discovered under a Quartermaster Corps in 1950s. They treat the bread like an all you can eat buffet, keeping it soft and fresh.
Cheetos: The U.S. military invented full-fat dehydrated cheese during World War II, to reduce weight and volume of food shipments abroad. This tangy orange powder then found its way from the consumer food market to our fingers and eventually being rubbed off on our pants.
Energy bars: First began as a nasty melt-less chocolate bar, produced by Hershey for the US military in the 1940s, it evolved into the energy bars we love today.
Room Temp Soft Tortillas: Hurdle technology, a discovery by a scientist working for the army, was first used to increase the shelf life of a pound cake before moving onto more complex items, like tortillas.
Cling / Saran wrap: Cellophane, allowed moisture in, making edibles soggy. So the Quartermaster Corps developed Saran film in collaboration with Dow Chemical. The first cling wrap appeared in stores in the 1950s and now our lives are very stale without it.

Cooking tips
For all those introverted eggs who want to get out of their shell, crack them on a flat surface instead of the edge of a bowl to prevent pushing a bit of the shell into the egg, risking a rebound.
Have cookies that have gotten tough? Give them a facial by placing them in a container with a fresh piece of bread for a soft and radiating texture.
Instead of reading the history of every ingredient in an online recipe, check the comments for any tips, precautions or lessons learned. As they say, making a mistake once is bad luck, repeating them is stupidity!
Did you know?
Nicola Tesla was present at the first ever party where an “exotic dancer” jumped out of a cake. We believe the cake was made with currants and the performance was electric.
Peanuts can be used to make dynamite. The oil derived from peanuts can be processed to produce glycerol. This in turn, can be used to make nitroglycerin, one of the constituents of dynamite. Our heads exploded upon reading this.
Most supermarket wasabi is actually horseradish. The gymnastics of making real wasabi becomes a mere push-up when it’s replaced by horseradish and ultimately, excess of both lead to the same outcome.
